The Challenge

Managing a widely distributed mobile workforce created multiple operational inefficiencies for Alba. Their mobile device estate was complex, with inconsistent usage patterns and limited visibility across teams.

Costs fluctuated unpredictably due to unmanaged data use and lack of policy enforcement. In addition, there was no central mechanism to track or reroute engineers in real time, which impacted service responsiveness. The company needed tighter control over communications, better cost predictability, and tools to dynamically manage on-the-ground operations.

The Solution

Certum deployed plan.com’s my.plan platform to centralise control and streamline mobile operations. The solution delivered granular visibility into every device’s usage, enabling real-time notifications, automated caps, and restrictions. Captive Pages were configured to automatically pause data access if thresholds were breached.

Live GPS tracking helped managers redirect engineers based on job urgency and proximity. All data was consolidated into a single reporting interface, allowing both operational and finance teams to make informed decisions instantly.

The Results

The implementation brought immediate financial and operational benefits. Monthly mobile costs became predictable, with data overages virtually eliminated. Centralised control enabled the redirection of engineers in real time, improving customer response and field productivity.
